Questions
Before you book.
Ask us anything on WhatsApp. A person from our Shimla team replies.
How difficult is the Kheerganga trek?
It's a moderate day trek, about 9 to 10 km one way from Barshaini or Nakthan, with a steady climb of 5 to 6 hours. No technical climbing is involved, but it does need a reasonable fitness level and proper trekking shoes.
Do I stay in a tent or a guesthouse at the top?
Both are available. Guesthouses at Kheerganga offer basic shared rooms and dhaba-style meals, while camping packages provide tents, sleeping bags and a bonfire setup. Pick whichever you prefer from the packages above.
Is this different from the Kheerganga trip on your Kasol page?
Yes. Our Kasol Trip Package page covers Kasol village itself, cafes and Manikaran, without a Kheerganga climb. This page is specifically the trek: distance, guide, camping or guesthouse stay, and the hot spring at the top.
What is the best time for the Kheerganga trek?
March to June and September to November are best, with clear trails and good weather. The trek is best avoided in heavy monsoon (July-August) due to slippery paths, and in peak winter (January-February) when snow can make the upper stretch difficult without proper gear.
Is there a forest entry fee or permit needed?
Yes, a small forest department entry fee applies at the Barshaini checkpost, which is included in the packages above. No advance permit or special paperwork is needed for Indian nationals.
